A Time to Reflect

Dean's Corner 2007 Winterguard Season "A Time to Reflect……..” This year is going to be one of the best seasons ever. There are so many individuals that are giving their “time, talent, and energy” to ensure that each and every unit will be at its best. From time to time, people have asked me, “Why do you do this?” The answer is simple, “it’s all about the kids.” This winterguard season, let us keep in our minds three very important things; 1. What is best for the kids? 2. What is best for the circuit? 3. What is best for winterguard international? Everyone who participates in this activity is passionate, caring, and loving to everyone. We as spectators of this fabulous activity should help inspire the young people to do their very best. Be inspired by what we see on the contest floor each and every weekend. These young people are our future. They are the ones who will lead us into the next generation. If we pay attention long enough, they will teach us some truly inspiring and valuable lessons about who we are. They will show us that by coming together, anything is possible. I recently heard a poem that I would like to share. The author of this poem is unknown. “By Changing Your Thinking” by changing your thinking, you change your beliefs; when you change your beliefs, you change your expectations; when you change your expectations, you change your attitude; when you change your attitude, you change your behavior; when you change your behavior, you change your performance; when you change your performance, you change your life! So I leave you with this, “our thoughts become acts, our acts develop into habits, our habits define our character, and our character shapes our destiny.
